Craving Color

by C.Kidder on February 8, 2010

I did this oil pastel sketch last Spring and when I look at it I feel so anxious for warmer weather and the chance to be surrounded by budding trees . There is nothing like being outdoors with my palette of paints. It’s just not the same working inside my Studio even though I do appreciate having a place where I can go to create ( or dream) when it’s too cold to be outside.
The days are getting longer and soon another season will begin ….and my cravings for color will be satisfied. For now I am “hunkering down” and watching nature from my window with a big cup of hot chocolate!
If the weather reports are correct it looks like I’ll be seeing alot of white in the next couple of days. A chance to do some more work on my Patience!

I love your oil pastel sketch, a “preview” of spring! Right now I am enjoying evergreen trees that give us so much beauty while the other trees are in a winter resting mode. I love seeing their branches covered with sparkling snow. The holly bush by my front steps is full of green leaves and red berries – awesome! I love watching the brids this time of year too. I saw a deep red cardinal when I was out walking this past weekend. Let the colors find you while you wait for spring, it will be here soon! Meanwhile hot chocolate sounds great!

Beautiful!! I can’t wait for spring. We had more snow here last night. Who knew the South would get so much snow this year!
