I picked up the phone this week and made a reservation to go back to Monhegan Island and stay at the Island Inn for a few days in in June. .. I needed to have a plan. I’ll be there when the Inn reopens for the season so I’m hoping that I’ll be ahead of the tourists that tend to wait for warmer weather and for summer to be official. I don’t care what the weather brings I just need to be there!! I did this painting one sunny day at the “Trailing Yew” on the Island when the laundry was blowing in the wind and my mind felt as clear and clean as the cotton towels on the line. Being from “away” lets my mind be on vacation from all expectations and allows me to slip comfortably into myself for a short time. It’s always difficult to leave when it’s time to go…but the memories of being there show up in my paintings even after I’m back home.

We love your painting of Monhegan Island. We were just looking at the painted rock that Gramma D got on MI when she went there with you. It Is a peaceful place.
From Lanie: I love you! I like red cardinals, angels & your paintings. Your paintings are really good. Peace out!
Thank you! Someday maybe you’ll be a painter too Lanie! You can be anything that you want to be! Follow your dreams…love,Colleen
