Changes…Learning to Fly

August 14, 2011

“How does one become a butterfly,…You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.”             ~Trina Paulus
My studio has been a safe and comfortable cocoon for me this summer.  A place where I can spend hours getting lost in my landscapes…dreaming… drawing…putting colors on canvas and paper.
 But now [...]

Summer…Time Out

July 16, 2011

” Rest  is  not  idleness,  and  to  lie  sometimes  on  the  grass  on  a  summer  day  listening  to  the  murmer  of water, or  watching  the  clouds  float  across  the sky  is  hardly  a waste  of  time…”   ~John Lubbock

Today instead of doing loads of laundry and  errands that can wait  I’m going into my Studio to finish a [...]

To Maine and Back…

July 8, 2011

I spent the past three days motoring through Maine with my husband.  Our first stop was  Wiscasset… “One of the Prettiest little towns in Maine” .  Usually I’m on my way to Monhegan Island ( where I did the painting above) when I go through this quaint  town.   The Wiscasset Bay Gallery is filled with beautiful works of Maine Art [...]

Beauty and The Beach…

July 1, 2011

I’ve been taking late afternoon walks on the beach that transport me to a Carribean Island without leaving Ipswich. There have been soft balmy breezes …winds just strong enough to fill the sails of the boats coasting by.   Sitting  on a large boulder watching the ultramarine waters capped with white waves  puts me in a meditative state…a place that’s difficult [...]

Two Barns…Two Days…Vermont

June 29, 2011

Two days in Vermont just made me want more.  Motoring through the mountains and watching the cotton candy clouds drip across the tips of the hills in the early morning made me want to pull over and set up my easel!
A few years ago I spent an entire week exploring Southern Vermont with my brushes…no [...]

Getting Real…

May 29, 2011

Staying at the  Camelback Inn Resort in Scottsdale Arizona was like visiting another planet. A planet called Paradise. Maybe some people would disagree but living in an unreal world can be very healthy…especially when you’re coming from a place called New England where the Spring that you longed for all winter was nothing more than a [...]
